The Eternal Race
Reflections Beneath an Ancient Sky

Under the twinkle of light,
From millions of years past.
I cling to my jacket on this chilly night,
When the horse emerges at last.
~
I see the Dark Horse's head,
As it gallops through the sky.
While most are fast asleep in bed,
I stare in wonder, asking why?
~
Why are we the lucky ones to see,
The gifts of the universe out there?
Peering back through our history,
Why is intelligent life so rare?
~
It maintains its triumphant pace,
Now its first half making its way.
Right on time in the right place,
It must keep moving never to stay.
~
Moving at breakneck speeds,
Tonight's finish line is within sight.
The Dark Horse, with cosmic needs,
Completes it's journey on this night.
