closing walls and little light

getting blinded by your sight

in the show of what’s to be

gave my all, forgot to see

in the words of sweet, surrender

it got hard, but it felt tender

I was me, you were pretending

we continued, in an ending

you were there, but further gone

was it me, what had I done?

I could say that I love you

you would tell me “yes, me too”

lies we often tell ourselves

stories filling old bookshelves

“I am happy just with you”

I am here, but want to go there too

“I am happier with you”

many things I wish you knew

lies we often tell the other

if it’s ending, should we bother?

I could say that I love you

I could even say “I do”

you could even say it too

fairytales, they have no ending

they’re in love, they’re not pretending.
