The End

but wait

The End
Photo by Filip Bunkens on Unsplash

Frigid wind pulls all the life from earth

Knives of cold pierce the skin

A song that plays in the night

The warmth drains from without and in

Shadows grow and then they fade

The darkness owns the day

We watched the world dying

Now we're dancing in decay

A touch, a flake of frozen rain

Softly lands on the cheek like a kiss

A blanket of white petals

Drifts slowly in a cold and lonely mist

The sound of branches breaking

Like the sound of breaking hearts

The beginning of the end,

and this all is just the start
