It echoes in this empty room, and I wonder if anybody is there. I have a laptop, desk, and chair; but my room still feels bare. I hear the birds tweeting and its music in the air, but those tweets aren't human, and I don't have anything to say. As I sit beside my uncovered window, people stop and stare, but nobody can give me the conversation that I crave.

I look around this empty room and speak to the air.

"Is anybody out there? Does anybody really care?

Then I hear it,

"Woof!"

A dog understands my despair, and I realize that all these sights and sounds of nature, are my comfort in this emptiness. They tell me someone is really there.
