The Embodiment of Smooth

Effortlessly charming

He sashays into the room in absolute confidence,

Head held high in a gift of splendour,

His smile lights the room from within,

Knowing he lives a life that he does adore.

**

He is adamant that tomorrow is his true blessing,

Believing the sun shines for his glory alone,

He stops and ponders the possibilities on the horizon,

Moving into his well practiced come-hither-to zone.

**

He eyes the room for his prey (picky at best),

And spots a gorgeous fashionista on the sideline,

She looks out of place and shy to boot,

Perfect — his final thought, ‘there’s the one I’ll make mine’.

**

He saunters over with a swagger, oozing personality,

Consciously polishing his ardour into granite sleekness,

Aware his grace and style is silkiness to the lonely,

Building upon his crafty display of his uniqueness.

**

He glides across the floor in a cool display,

Approaching his choice with slick-backed hair,

She notices his nearness when he comes into proximity,

And her eyes glaze over in desire in a silent stare.

**

He has it all and he sure is aware,

Before leaving home he polished and primed,

Bringing his lustrous looks to a heightened gleam,

Every point, every advantage utilised and defined.

**

He dresses his sleek frame in grace and taste,

Seeking to confuse his quarry with his charm to soothe,

He’s a well oiled machine, well practiced and prepared,

As he is the very embodiment of seductive and smooth.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
