The Electric Bill (prt. 3)
The lights are on.... -there always on, they've always been on... -but they might not be for much longer... -no, of course they will...
I can't stand These Lights...
burning my eyes
and the space that lies behind‐
setting my mind a blaze,
hosting this, Burning Paradise—
Embers glow under the blow of The Wind's Tirade,
An Opera of Laughter—
Shouting until I command them to shatter,
welcoming what darkness is to fall thereafter,
holding on to a secret hope...
that may they never illuminate again.
These Lights‐
I can't stand them,
and neither can I sit in them
at times I'd rather not even exist in them...
letting their shine hit everything except, that dangerous wish,
hurtful thoughts, harmful wants, and cursed fantasies all the like
somehow hide in what shadows don't even exist in here.
These Lights‐
they leave me blind,
and run me out of my own mind...
when I'd rather they just run off and leave me behind.
They've birthed a pit of endless, inextinguishable flames...
I can neither afford to keep them running,
nor to cut off
These Lights‐
I both can,
and cannot...
turn then off...

About the Creator
Josh Morgan
Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.

Thank you for sharing this. The tension between the desire to escape and the inability to do so is beautifully conveyed. Your ability to express vulnerability with such intensity is deeply moving.
