The Eerie Night
A Short Poem of Suspense and Fiction, Where Shadows Lurk and Fears Take Hold

The night was still, the stars shone bright
The moon cast shadows in the night
A gentle breeze was in the air
As I walked through the darkness there
I heard a sound, I couldn't tell
If it was near or far as well
I held my breath, and listened close
As fear began to take its hold
The sound grew louder, drawing near
And suddenly, my heart was filled with fear
I turned around, but nothing could I see
Except the shadow cast by a nearby tree
I walked ahead, with cautious tread
My heart still racing, filled with dread
And then I saw, with growing fright
A figure looming in the night
It moved towards me, step by step
Its eyes were glowing, filled with depth
I stood my ground, with all my might
Determined to win this eerie fight
But then the figure came to light
And revealed itself, a friendly sight
It was a neighbor, out for a stroll
And I was left with a lighter soul.
