The Driven One

A Reflection of Self in White

Original Art by Katherine Hamburger

She always asks,

why?

She always says,

I wish it could be,

I wish it was.

Where’s the practicality?

A complacent delusion.

A passion,

she’s too comfortable to start.

Procrastination.

Self sabotage.

The fear.

She knows why.

Wishing is to long for.

Wishing is a prison.

Doing is a key.

Eyes clouded.

She sees only,

a filtered reality.

The world who made it so.

Examples are wonderful.

I don’t need them,

to know it can be done,

She says.

Loving is wonderful,

I don’t need it to be said,

to know it’s felt,

She says.

The driven one,

they call her.

Eyes clouded,

they say.

A filtered reality,

they are living.

Eyes Clouded.

She sees only,

white.

For in white,

all true colors are reflected.

For in white,

our true selves are reflected.
