The Dog Who Loved Me

A gentle ode to loyalty, comfort, and unconditional love.

By Fazal HadiPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

He never asked for riches,

never measured worth in gold.

His eyes were warm lanterns,

telling stories too deep to be told.

When my days felt heavy,

and silence filled the room,

his paws tapped softly toward me,

scattering away the gloom.

A wag of tail was his greeting,

as if I were his only song.

No judgment in his being,

just a love that never felt wrong.

I cried once on the kitchen floor,

broken, tired, and small.

He pressed his head against my hand,

as if to say, “I’ll catch your fall.”

The world can be unkind at times,

but his loyalty never strayed.

Through storms and years, through joy and fear,

by my side he always stayed.

Not everyone will understand

the language spoken without sound,

but in his gaze I found a truth:

love’s purest form is always bound.
