Maria tags along with me. I’m headed to the store in search of a dictionary. We arrive at the dollar store because they have everything. Maria and I split up. Couldn’t find anything staying in one spot. After about 5 minutes, I hear Maria shout from across the store.
"Bobby, I found one!"
I rush over to her. I’m happy now because my essay deadline is coming up.
"Bet let’s get it and let’s get out of here."
But right as I’m about to, this old lady grabs it. My heart sank to my stomach. I need this book.

2. Soon as the bell rang, I was out those doors. Speeding down the school roads. I had to get home and start this paper already. The grading period ends tomorrow. And the topic Ms. Nick gave me wasn't that complex. I figured the quicker I start, the quicker I finish. Mom knows a lot too. She’s also an English teacher. As much as she offered, I couldn’t take her help. She still made me snacks. That way I could focus. W Dukes across-the-board. I took my grub and sat down at my desk so I can finally get started.

A Dart at Dusk
Seconds ago, the sullen sun set on the two of us… my exuberant furry companion and me. A fresh breeze embraces us, delivering welcome relief from the day’s oppressive heat. His typical stumbling and staggering along — apace with a sloth — has turned into trip-trapping, high-stepping, almost skipping along.
