We are lost in the desert

Seeking something that isn’t there

Staring deeply into the alluring mirage of the future

Only to lose sight of what was before us

The tangerine sunlight

The earth bitten air

Our fellow travelers moving slowly across

The Desert Plane

We are all in search of something

Just as our exploratory ancestors before us

El Dorado

Heaven

Eden

Nirvana

All the same thing but under different names

Meaning

That is what we desperately seek

But it is in the places that we search

That our lives come into existence

But every cave we find empty

Every oasis dry

and every treasure valueless

For we have lost sight that what we search for

We have already found

The desert plane that we call reality
