The Deceitful Heart

Could it be that your heart is false?

Dare not to trust your heart.

Yes, tis true.

Thy heartbeat cannot trust thine own truth.

For our moral compass

Doth not always point north.

Nay, we each have our own north.

Dare not to trust your heart.

Yes, tis true.

For thy mind could play tricks,

Distort pure vision,

And lie.

When each soul has their own truth,

And yet live in a land of law,

What should be trusted?

Thy heart with passions filled?

Or a law of senses?

Dare not to trust your heart.

Yes, tis true.

For every villain is the hero of his own tale,

And what is to say you are not this or that?

Darest not, dear one, to trust thy heart.
