Dead Water

When you feel like you are dying, but you are very much alive...

Standing in dead water.

My screaming the only thing

Making it ripple.

In so much pain,

Yet bound to these chains

That hold me here in this dead water.

Which path was the wrong turn?

I followed it like the straight and narrow.

There's so much of me

I feel,

To be shared,

Loved,

Given,

But I'm here.

Stuck. In a world

I didn't realize I was creating.

I can scream to God

I can scream to Hell,

No one is living but me

In this dead water.

They said to be the good girl.

But the path to darkness

Was like a beacon of light to me.

So I rode the fence,

Toes dipped into each side.

Now I'm stuck because

No one wants my contamination.

Rotting here in my purgatory

Is my sentence.

Dead air and dead water,

But I am alive,

Fighting and

Gasping

For every breath.
