The Dear John Letter
As Submitted To The Epistolary Challenge

Dear John,
My beloved Don Juan
Easy on the eyes
Darkened as the lonely skies.
Trusting you ever so much
You are my emotional crutch.
Sitting there
Shirtless and bare
On the cover
You are my fantasy lover
Stripped from the pages.
Making minimum or no wages
Only there for me
Dreaming when I can see.
At the late-night café sipping tea
Chapter turns.
My lust burns.
For you are a fictional character
Temptation, why would it matter?
If I am hooked
Closing the paperback book
Enjoying the fetish episode
Featuring an image tan and gold
Until my partner comes home
Seeing me all alone
“Reality had its way.
I am sorry,” he did say.
For what? I speak.
Not being meek
Tonight, I had an affair.
With a devilish delectable debonair
Being very kind
In my mind
I still remember when you were cool.
By the singles pool
My guard I did drop.
Boy watching, I did stop.
When I shop
Down at the discount mall
Reading phone numbers on the wall
Finding treasure in the mist and steam
Wearing attractive tight designer jeans
I will kiss you good night.
My husband defending me, right.
Remember this.
Do not hiss.
About who?
Since our relationship is true
And I am due.
So, pick a color, pink or blue.
As we are now three instead of two
Sincerely your other half
Craving pickles while soaking in a self-drawn candlelit bath.
