The Day the Feud Ignited

A7

By James GreenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

'Twas in a land where feuds did reign,

Two families in conflict remained,

Their battles raged for many a year,

And neither side would ever show cheer.

But at a funeral or wedding fair,

When all had come to show their care,

Emotions rose, tempers did flare,

And their feud did burst into the air.

Words were said, accusations flew,

And soon the guests' attention grew,

The feud that had long been contained,

Now in full view was openly displayed.

Their anger boiled, the shouting loud,

And neither side would back down proud,

The funeral or wedding now forgot,

Their feud was all that mattered aught.

It seemed as though the feud would last,

And peace would forever be cast,

But then a wise old soul did say,

"Why waste your time in such a way?"

"For what is gained in all this strife,

When love and life have both lost the prize?

Lay down your weapons, let us unite,

And end this feud with all our might."

And so they listened to his voice,

And put aside their feuding noise,

And as they hugged, they all did say,

"Peace at last, in love we'll stay."
