October 25, 2025.
Today, she let go.
Not with a speech or a slammed door,
but in the hush that comes
when something inside finally stops reaching.
********************
She has asked for so long
for conversation that wandered past the surface,
for a glance that saw her,
for a touch that didn’t feel like duty.
Each request had turned to dust in her mouth.
She learned the weight of silence,
how it fills every corner when two people live beside each other
but not together.
********************
Now, she steps away from the pleading.
She does not need to be met halfway anymore;
she will walk her own distance.
********************
There is no victory in this,
only relief.
A loosening.
The small mercy of no longer waking each morning
with the ache of another unmet need.
********************
She calls him friend now
and means it.
It is a gentler shape than wife,
a role with lighter hands,
one that lets her breathe.
********************
The tears still visit,
but they come differently.
They are clean, not desperate.
They rinse the past from her face,
making room for her dreams.
********************
In the quiet of her room,
she begins small rituals:
a candle lit just for herself,
music she doesn’t have to explain,
a walk without waiting to be joined.
These are not grand acts,
but they are hers.
********************
She learns to enjoy her own company,
to listen to her thoughts without shame.
The laughter she finds is shy,
but it belongs to her completely.
********************
She imagines a future
where she wakes light,
where nature becomes her ritual
and happiness reigns supreme.
********************
Until then, she will live gently,
kind to others,
kind to herself.
She will smile even when it trembles.
She will carry her own heart carefully,
and one day,
it will stop feeling like a burden
and be freedom.
