The Day I Met You

I had no idea it would lead to my last breath on earth

The Day I Met You

I fell into a sinkhole the day I met you,

no warning, no cracks, just the earth gone

beneath my feet.

You smiled like a secret kept too long,

your words—sweetened poison,

each syllable a blade tucked in velvet.

You didn’t pull me in.

I walked.

Willing.

Every heartbeat thudded

like a drum at a funeral I hadn’t planned to attend.

I didn’t know it would be mine Mine.

Love, they say, builds.

But ours?

Ours swallowed.

it chewed my heart, sucked my bones.

I sank past the bones of other better women,

past memories you buried still twitching,

and I kissed you like I was not drowning.

I knew

you were never the surface.

you were the depth,

the devour,

the darkness I mistook for home.

And still,

I stayed.

You played

your wicked, deceitful game.

I fell, one last time.

They filled the hole in.

You murdered me

cold blooded murder, Why?

with sweetness on your breath,

with “forever” carved into

every lie you whispered.

And still, you and they call it love.

Rest In Peace My bruisedabused body.

This piece touched me deeply. There's such raw honesty and emotional vulnerability in your words—it felt like reading a page torn from someone's soul. The progression from innocence to impact was beautifully done, and the last few lines really hit home. Thank you for sharing something so intimate and real. It’s poetry like this that reminds us of the power of connection.

The way you’ve captured the pain of a love that consumes rather than nurtures is heartbreaking and beautiful.

I think we all may have had relationships like this every so often. We have to give them and ourselves a chance to find out if it is right or wrong, Good job.
