The Day I Let It All Out

Things You Can’t Say Out Loud Challenge

I don’t remember why,

And I sure as hell won’t try,

To come up with an excuse for this day.

But for some unknown reason,

I set my inhibitions free to fly,

On my way to see the Doctor.

I engaged with a new mother,

Pushing around her pride and joy,

What I said really shocked her,

I said “good morning, sweet lady."

"But that’s one ugly baby.

All wrinkly and red.

And just look at the size of his head.”

And walked away, not believing what I’d just said.

Not to be outdone,

The fun had just begun,

As I walked into the doctor’s tiny room.

He said, “Hello Mr. Gray,”

“How are you today?”

In a kind of condescending kind of way.

I said, “You silly little arse,”

“What a stupid question to ask,

If I felt good, I wouldn’t be here today!”

Still not to be outdone,

The best was yet to come,

As I engaged in small talk,

With the receptionist that day.

We talked about this and that,

A stupid conversation wasting time,

I said that’s all very fine,

But let’s just cut the crap, save time,

Are you going to sleep with me today?

Embarrassed as all hell, there was no way to say,

I’m sorry for what I just said.

Were these things I said,

Or were they just inside my head?

Did I really say those things out loud?

[Author’s note: All of my poetry rhymes. With this poem, I did not set out to make it rhyme, but some parts do (I suppose it's just the rhyme in me). It has no discernible structure, except that the first and last verses each consist of 14 stanzas. It is also not the polite form of poetry that I usually write. So all in all, I cut loose on this one. 😉]

Till next time,

Calvin
