when the clock strikes midnight
and the darkness overwhelms the masses,
remember there is light where there is love
and it will guide us home.
hope is not lost in unity,
so stand by, hand in hand,
and bring on a brighter tomorrow.
we can't be led astray as long as
those with eyes to see
and with ears to listen
retain the ability to do so.
look inward and move forward
for now, more than ever,
strength and empathy must prevail.
a country may be broken,
but the human spirit is built to survive,
against all odds,
we will make it to the other side.

I begrudgingly did some laundry. I scrolled on TikTok for far too long. My mother-in-law texted me first thing in the morning asking me to lunch or dinner, depending on how busy her day was going to be. My brain automatically went to "something bad must have happened." But no. She just wanted to get me out of the house, and it's scary how moms seem to know when you need something without you having to say anything at all.
