Like the bat, our looks or demeanour sometimes leave us feeling misjudged and alone.

Bat--
Grotesque,
A fleeting form,
Scoffed by the judging eye,
Its firm, dark wings enshroud the night
Ghostly--
The guardian hunts for darkened plague
Watcher of moonlit skies
Unsung, unseen
Itself.

My daughter had a bat in her room and insisted on our catching it with a fish net and putting it outside. Her cat wanted that bat so bad and that is how she knew there was a bat in the house, as the bat was jumping on her in an attempt to catch the bat flying around in her room. It was comical but my daughter is crazy about animals, mammals, birds, all.😉So true about being misjudged.
Like the bat, our looks or demeanour sometimes leave us feeling misjudged and alone. Really true words
Bats are a always misunderstood. They cute little furry creatures. Loved your poem!
What I always heard about bats as a kid, was that if they got stuck in your hair - you would have to have all your hair cut off, and so I grew up terrified of bats. So after reading your poem I googled in they fly close to your head chasing mosquitoes - I guess they did get a bad wrap.
Bats are such cool creatures
This has such a strong, mysterious feel to it—like a reflection on being misunderstood and the quiet strength in that solitude. Sometimes the overlooked carry the most wisdom.
