The Corner

A Poem

Deterioration Of Mind Over Matter by Otto Rapp

Hello Me,

meet me at the corner of Who You Are and Who You Want to Be.

Do not try to resist or flee.

I know these streets, every crack, alley, and turn,

every mortar, every brick.

Wherever you think you are going you will never reach

because to you I will stick.

If you’re running from me, you are running with cement shoes.

I’ve always been with you,

been with you from the beginning.

Now you try to shut me out and

pretend you don’t have a clue.

You tried to escape my world, OUR world,

and attempted to change your face.

But I see through your mask because I am your doubt.

You think you can change who you are,

thinking it’s your salvation.

But don’t kid yourself, you know your place.

Now,

meet me at the corner of Who You Are and What you Want to Be.

I will hunt you,

so don’t flee.

I just found this because my Pixsy Service informed me of a match. I am glad you like my artwork and found it inspiring to write a poem about it. I am always open to share my work if, like in this case, I am credited.
