THE COLORS OF MY CORNERS

The colors of my corners,

are different shades and hues.

Each corner holds a story,

painted in reds and blues.

Red is the color of passion;

of love and life and breath.

Blue is the color of sorrow,

of crying, heartache and death.

My reds have many faces,

my children my family and friends,

they're each a part of my heart,

a joy that will never end.

The blues are shaded in gray,

for they carry a painful past,

they're loves who broke my heart,

marriages that didn't last.

Yet oft I find flecks of yellow,

hidden in corners and cracks,

they're sunshine in the shadows,

the warmth upon my back.

So I will continue my journey,

gathering colors as I grow;

And then I'll build a rainbow

to guide me where I go.
