The Car Crash
The car was hit, it slid so fast,
Spun on ice, then down it crashed.
Water rising, frozen tight,
No way out that bitter night.
They screamed, none could hear,
Darkness whispered, death was near.
Trapped below, no breath to spare,
Numb hands clawing at the air.
An air pocket, holding tight,
Keeping them breathing, that night.
Minutes stretched, the cold crept in,
Would they die, or would life win?
Lights above, a distant sound,
Firefighters rushing all around.
Hands reached in, chains pulled them out.
Saved before time said goodbye.
Dripping wet, too cold to stand,
They clung tight, hand in hand.
Silent prayers, a tear-streaked face,
Spared by mercy, saved by grace.
God was with them, holding them tight,
On that cold and endless night.
Neither since have drove a car
They both know how lucky they are

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️

This has been one of my nightmares since learning to drive especially during winter driving seasons. Good job is capturing the fear.
Damn.....
