The Captain Is Done?

A Curtal Sonnet

By Scott A. Vancil

-

(A Curtal Sonnet is a shorter sonnet with a half line on the end, and the format doesn't meet the minimum requirement for wordcount for Vocal, so I've left in an explanation explaining the form)

-

The stars erupt into the vibrant sky

A super nova into void of dark,

And here I sit upon my bridge aware

Of how all stars eventually die.

Yes, here I sit, a captain with a lark.

My mission's done; I've nothing to prepare.

-

But enters he, a man beyond my scope.

His muscles bulging, and his biceps stark.

But of this vision do I even care?

Aye, mind's a super nova full of hope.

Indeed I dare.
