The camera never lies

I dearly wish that it would

The camera never lies

The lens is cold and watching

it does not bend or flatter

it takes the face you carry

and holds it without mercy

A smile may hide the breaking

a laugh may cover sorrow

yet the frame will always catch

the truth beneath the skin

It keeps the shadow silent

the lines you thought were fading

the tired eyes that whisper

what words refuse to say

The world can turn away

pretend they never see

but the stillness of a picture

lays every secret bare

The camera never lies

though people wish it would

it speaks in frozen moments

the things we hide in time.
