The Cake
A Metaphoric Poem About What's Done Is Done

The lesson is not in the reason but the causation of the end of the season.
Fixated on Why.
Full of turmoil about blame.
Your mind is under the flame.
The dragon is the unknown.
The cure is ingrown.
I love cooking metaphors.
When the cake rises, the baker takes the cake out of the oven.
The oven has served its purpose.
If the baker leaves the cake for too long, it will burn.
An overprocessed cake has just the shell and no insides.
Now that the cake is out -- let it cool.
Please turn off the oven -- let it cool.
We often spend so much time and energy analyzing a season that ended instead of enjoying the fruits of the decision that made it complete.

The cake is done.
Cut the cake.
Eat the cake.
Share the cake.
Or save pieces of the cake for later,
However you dispose of the cake, the key is –
The cake is made regardless of the steps taken to make it rise.
The reason may satisfy some embedded curiosity,
But it will not un-bake the cake.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and appreciate my expression of letting go of the way to live in the now.
