The Burning Leaf of Love
A beautiful picture of calm and love

The Burning Leaf of Love
Two bodies lean into each other like a confession,
Her head resting against his back with longing,
His presence wrapped around her like a shield,
While the world burns gold around them.
A leaf outlines their shape with fire,
Its veins glowing like truth lit from within,
Holding the heat of desire and the ache of memory,
As if passion itself carved the moment open.
On her back, a ghost of another self reaches out,
A reminder of who she once was or still might be,
Because love always burns through our layers,
Showing the parts we tried to hide.
Standing in that glow, I felt their story,
A quiet collision of fear and devotion,
And I understood how love can scorch you gently,
Leaving marks that bloom long after the flame.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️

Loved this, Maire. Did you do the image and then write the poem, or the other way around? They match perfectly
This is a poem to me about the ups and downs of a relationship. Good job.
