This ghazal reflects on love as the only permanence within impermanence. As time erases all traces of existence, the beloved becomes the timeless constant — a divine echo that endures beyond decay. Through fleeting breaths and vanished moments, the poet finds eternity in devotion.
Upon the waves of time, they carried my heart away,
Yet whispers of your name forever stay.
The world passed by — our traces turned to dust,
But your gaze, eternal, was kept in divine trust.
To touch your soul, one fleeting breath was born and died,
Your name set free in every sigh, every tide.
Within my heart’s mirror, your image still remains,
All else has vanished — only you sustains.

Thoughts on Vocal and the way the world is
"Death cannot stop true love, only delay it." – Wesley in The Princess Bride. I decided to come back to Vocal on a very cold and dark night at the end of December. I had been, and still am, convalescing from a horrible staph infection that had gone misdiagnosed for months. This, paired with the increasing challenges of being healthy, making the best choices for my co-parented child, being a wife, and being a director at a new job, was a lot to manage.
