the book I never should have opened

too desperate to know what you wouldn't say aloud

the truth exists

confessed then tucked away

in tampon boxes under the sink

.

it’s not a glamorous place

to hide a secret, but it’s where

he’ll never dare to check or pry

.

feminine blood infuriates him

for reasons even now

I only half understand why

.

has time really assuaged

the dark regrets you confessed

on the pages of hidden journals?

.

have you stopped doubting

that you should've left him

like you wrote back then?

.

what of your moments of anger

when he pushed you

far beyond the edge?

.

I wasn’t meant to ever

find your confessions

but I bled and did

.

are you happy now?

.

or has he just convinced you

there’s no other way

to live your days?
