a Shakespearean sonnet

I will drown in their refreshin’ juices

tiny bits of seeds on my tongue, teeth, lips

the palate relishes its finesse fete

fatten enormously in its own gown

it reminds me of a berry hunt, hot

summer in my garden later, mouth stuffed

with raspberry, strawberry, cherry taste –

complementin’ an unusual trip

*

all the shadows from behind the tall trees

could not be irradiated by the truth

at the root of all this philosophy

of not bein’ involved in greedy myths

*

tell me now, god of nature, if you dare

is it justice, got stuck in my throat, fierce?

*
