The Best Pieces of Us

A Poem

By Mumma BloomPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

When I look at you I see the best pieces of us,

Your smile that brightens the days when they are grey,

Your eyes, like his looking brightly at me,

Your hair, like mine lightly shining as it catches the sun,

Your joyous carefree demeanour.

When I look at you I see the best pieces of us,

Even when you shout at me,

When you stomp off in a mood,

When listening is the last thing on your mind,

And ‘no’ is your favourite word.

When I look at you I see the best pieces of us,

The way you look in awe at the world,

Forever learning and exploring,

Playing without worries,

Free as the wind, birds and bees.

When I look at you I see the best pieces of us,

The best pieces of him and me,

All wrapped up in one little bundle of you,

The best pieces of us.
