Don’t be alarmed
His name is Fin
Our faithful dog
No, he won’t bite
As long
as you,
don’t mean me harm

No, I know
he doesn’t look like me
Here on earth, we mix and blend
But don’t be fooled, he’s family
That’s right,
they’re referred to here;
as man’s best friend
*
Do you have pets
In space -
where you come from?
I sometimes forget
I’m not his mom
If you’ve never
been hugged or snuggled
Or received a kisses
I understand,
why you’re befuddled
Just relax
let them love on you
*
When they kiss,
it’s a sign
they love you
Faithful and kind
Loyal and true
No matter what
They’re glad to see you
Let’s see another,
love like that
*
If you don’t learn
anything else
The love between us
can’t be out done
And if you don’t have good intentions
You’d better be prepared to run
*
They are the very best of us
A better species
won’t come along
We have no fear,
because we trust
There’s
nothing
better
than a dog

It's difficult for me to know where to start with a review of this book as it was, for me, an entirely unique experience and one that I'll probably never have again. I don't want that to be interpreted as unenjoyable but it has left me scratching my head a little and ruminating on its content, its themes and its characters.

If an alien can make friends with a dog, they would have to be okay.
