Waking in my cosy bed

Chill on my nose and warmth below my head.

Blanket pulled up high and tight

Idea of an alarm nowhere in sight.

I drift and snooze as time ticks on

Birds start to crow while the sun rises upon.

A yawn and stretch as I pull myself to

My window cloudy from that frozen dew.

Slide on my slippers and to the kitchen I go

A hot cup of coffee so I do not feel so slow.

Out on the deck I sit back and collect

The freshness of the air that I too often neglect.

The grass off green with tips of white

Stiff in the breeze from its light frostbite.

In the distance the green is all but absorbed

By the seas of frost that lay on my lawn.

As the sun hits my face I know time has but come

These warm shiny rays make me want to hum.

Sing with the birds as they come out to play

While the ground warms up and the frost melts away.

Dew on the ground from the frost overnight

Birds take the worms as the come up for morning light.

Dogs in the field and the stream flowing near

These sounds make me feel calm I love this time of year

The smell in the air and the feeling on my skin

It is the best time of year and I am ready for it to begin.

Now my coffee is done and my day most proceed

I cannot wait for tomorrow but it is never guaranteed.
