After the break up I was so broken and down.
Afraid and alone 'til you came around.
What started as strangers and grew into friends,
From passing comments and words,
Into messages sent by the tens.

I wasn't ready to hear the compliments you'd pay,
After all I had been through and cruel things he would say.
My self worth in tatters and my confidence gone,
You raised me up without realising,
And became someone I could lean on.

We did what we shouldn't and it became more,
But despite all of that we are still friends at the core.
You call me out when I'm wrong and have my back all the time,
I wouldn't be me without you,
You never fail to make me smile.

So thank you for being there, you'll never know what it took,
To lift me up, raise my spirits and change my outlook.
I've changed as a person, I grew strong and I've grown.
And it's because you have helped me, I couldn't have done on my own.
