The beauty in a black mask

I will never forget the day we met, you arrived at my office door.

Your raven hair matched your long black dress.

Late for your first day, it was nine – oh – four

You were a beautiful mess.

Your chosen mask was black as well

But your eyes were as bright as the sun

In that very second, for you, I fell

And my heart began to run.

Like a child, I became, when I caught your gaze,

Anxious and nervous and shy

My mind entered a misty haze,

Meaning to say hi but saying goodbye.

I sent you a message, then two and then three

You messaged with humor and wit

I didn’t know if you’d ever like me,

But I liked you just a little bit.

I walked you outside at five-fifteen

Your mask revealed your smile

It was the best smile; I ever have seen.

It was by a country mile.

You’re now part of my life, that passion will not go away

I’m a better man, because of your love

That mask-wearing beauty, late her first day

My angel was sent from above.
