You Did
A poem about love from the other side of a food court

Too many hours, too long a day.
Too many stresses, that won’t go away.
A break from the office, to order some food.
What could arrive to brighten my mood?
You did.
A bustling food court, with noise extra loud.
Then you appeared, standing out from the crowd.
You carried yourself with grace and with style,
Who paralyzed me with the sight of their smile?
You did.
I dared not approach you, I dared not come near.
But I watched you intently, I grinned ear to ear.
You ordered your meal, then walked slowly away.
Who became a memory, I think of to this day?
You did.
