The Beautiful Weariness of Love
Why the heart needs rest, not an exit, when things get hard

Dating is inherently difficult—
It involves managing emotions, cultivating a sense of security, adapting habits, and merging two different sets of values. It can make you so tired that you want to give up.
And you're not the only one who's tired; most people in the world are. We will encounter disagreements a hundred times, have dozens of thoughts about breaking up, and be so weary that we want to abandon everything. Yet, time and again, because of love, we choose to stay and practice being more understanding.
If you change partners just because you're tired, you'll only keep changing partners forever. When you're tired, learn to solve problems. Practice expressing yourself, learn to listen, and face each other's emotions together.
You might think that "giving up or leaving" is a solution, but it's actually just avoiding the problem. If you don't learn this lesson now, you will encounter the same problem again with someone else.
The book Having Had It Is Enough says: "There is no such thing as a relationship without exhaustion; there is only a lack of love, an unwillingness to compromise, and a failure to appreciate one another."
If you truly love them, even the hardship will be worthwhile. If your heart is wavering, even a small setback will make you quit. Don't let down the person who makes an effort for you.
To the one being loved: do not be too proud. Let us both remain humble. It is because you met someone willing to love you that you became someone who is loved.
Remember: when you're tired, learn to solve the problem. When you're tired, learn to rest—but do not give up.
