The Banana Splits theme brings back sweet memories

Fond remembrances triggered by a tune

By Cheryl E PrestonPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

Tra La La La La La La

Is how the Banana Splits song begins

I saw a reel on Facebook

Now in my mind it never ends

Memories come flooding back

Of being a 12-year-old girl

Watching the Banana Splits

Without a care in the world

I recall on Saturday mornings

I would sit in front of the TV

Enjoying the comedy antics

Now in my mind it's all I see

I forget for a while until

Again the song reel plays

In my Facebook newsfeed

Then I'm singing it again at night and for days

One banana two banana three banana four

I'm twelve again singing popping like a cork

As the Banana Buggies go across the TV screen

With Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper and Snork

I'm dancing to the memories

As they roll through my mind

A time long ago

That today we can no longer find

vintage
