The B.L.U.E. Life
A bold Life
Blue jays on electrical wires
Blue butterflies dancing around forest fires
Proud peacocks spreading feathers for all to see
Never ashamed of who they were created to be
Bold
Stunning blue sapphires and five phenomenal lakes
Robin eggs out in the open despite the presence of snakes
Should we live baby blue lives or be royal?
Leap out on our own or be loyal?
Should we wait for permission to avoid danger?
Make safety our leader and keep risk a stranger?
Speak Up, For Heaven’s Sake?
Leap Up, Make Mistakes!
Nature whispers to us to live a life
Of Teal, turquoise, of Midnight hues
A Loving Life
Blue whales rolling around one another
Diving deep and humming to each other
Sweet, healing blueberries are an army of anti-aging fairies
Our pregnant ocean delivers much to explore
Life, Water, Oxygen, receiving less, giving more
Should we spend our time hating or debating
When we could be rolling, feeding, or mating?
Should we wait for the world to love us?
Choose only to like those whom we trust?
Nature shows us how to love in shades of BLUE
Oxford, Ultramarine, and Steel hues
An Unapologetic Life
Have you ever heard a poisonous dart frog apologize?
Sometimes our actions are the reason the doomed die
BLUE ink never holds its tongue
The Blues hums its sad song
Walking in truth sometimes requires stepping on toes
Saying YES to yourself sometimes requires NOs
The sky sends rain, clouds, snow, and thunder
Yet it remains a thing of awe, splendor, and wonder
Should you or I make ourselves small?
Or should we stand upright so others have to stand tall?
Should we censor ourselves to give others comfort?
Or should we do what is right no matter who gets hurt?
Nature shows us a BLUE life, living unashamed
Aqua, Cyan, Navy Blue are their names
An Ever-Changing life
Nature isn’t always as she appears
Constant shifts based on atmosphere
Moons influenced by smoke or dust
Can be as fickle as both of us
Our rotating earth is hot and cold
Quakes, screams, and trembles to get its story told
Orchids compete with man-made roses
Though fragile flex and bend themselves into yoga poses
And what about the bluest eye?
It is only as blue as its reflection of light
Different levels of pigment and melanin
We are all just reflections of God, rainbows of men,
Should we embrace our diversity?
You be the moon
Let me be the sea
