The Anxious Mind

Breathe

My mind is an ocean

unpredictable and violent at times

Waves crash into me, knocking me off balance.

I am weightless and at the mercy of the ocean.

unknowing where the surface is

I take a deep breath and start to swim.

I make my way beneath the waves.

where the ocean is calm

It is there I find peace and clarity.

My lungs will not allow me to stay here.

With air fleeting, I make my way to the surface.

I catch my breath

and battle the waves once again

I am stuck here until I catch my breath.

and make the journey under

to catch the peace I need
