That Smiling Picture of You

A poem and a Ringo Starr song

By Rasma RaistersPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

It’s so nice,

to hold your face,

in my hand

and remember days past.

That smiling picture of you

When was it?

I still remember so well,

the smiles we shared.

So nice to have,

a frozen piece of time,

left as a special memory -

to treasure for all time.

All those albums,

so full of days gone by,

some pictures remain still,

others seem to be reaching out.

Fashions of yesterday styles,

hugs and happy faces,

that stay within,

the picture frame.

Remembering the love we shared,

in the day when you were mine,

now friends for life -

memories that will always shine.

It’s no wonder,

that people place them all about,

pictures in frames of gold and silver,

to keep their loved ones near.

Every picture is so dear,

to gaze upon scenes,

to wonder what happened,

when the picture was taken.

With fondness that we both remember,

whenever we have stayed in touch,

these memories for us still shine,

as we laugh and remember the love between you and I.

*

That smiling picture of you,

will always stay with me,

how we both used to be -

that smiling picture of you.
