That New Dawn
For the Sonnet of Shadows Challenge
When I think back upon the day you died
I hear his cries wailing throughout my head
I curl into myself and want to hide
And refuse to believe that you are dead
* * *
The shadows creep upon me, hug me tight
As I think of you in that onyx urn
I refuse to see the oncoming light
For only your presence I do yet yearn
* * *
But still the bright light, it comes for me
And casts away the shadows that do haunt
It's the coming future, I now can see
The version of my future you would want
* * *
For you have prepared me to carry on
Now I can march off into that new dawn

See, I knew this would be the case. You, my friend, are enormously hard on yourself. This is beautiful, Stephanie. Aches that pain that I know so well and we've spoken of a lot recently, but is touching and loving and that couplet is actually rather sublime. Very well done.
Moving and emotional yet so full of love. Beautiful
Very heartfelt. 🫶
