That liminal, both metaphorical, and literal transition between seasons.

It was the first weeks of February,

The roses had not revealed their red,

A thought of how much winter would last, contrary,

With a hope for what would be, instead,

The sunlight reached its peak,

The sound of noon would catch my ear,

The heart would yearn, and surely seek,

Though what it was, was not yet clear,

The day was more triumphant then a runners streak,

More splendid then a champions course to stear,

Winters gloom did not seem so bleak,

And hope was a flame that glimmered, so near.

I went about the meadows,

The green grass began to sprout,

Trees that bloomed and weeped no more then willows,

My heart could no longer doubt,

A sudden occurence before my eyes,

Such beauty would then restore,

For where my hearts desire lies,

The hope for something more,

It was the first week of February,

Though I did not know what it had yet to bring,

Yet, despite all the contrary,

I knew something would come forth, in spring.
