THANKS_GIVING Little

12-26-25

All the trappings...

Turkey,

Ham,

Mashed potatoes...

..A beggar child standing on a corner.

Pumpkin pie,

Blueberry,

Cherry,

and mom's apple pie...

..Missiles writing death across burning skies.

A Christmas Carol,

It's a Wonderful Life,

How The Grinch Stole Christmas...

..A scruffy, unbathed woman sits under a stoplight at a median.

Little boy smiles at his shiny, new bike,

Sister squeals at her dollhouse,

Mom and dad exchange gifts...

..Close the door,

Close my eyes,

At the homeless and the poor,

Walking by...

..Happy New Year!

  • Thank you. I am too old. My heart tires and I hurt for everyone and every living thing. I see so much hate and I hate the hate, the cruelty and I can only write about it as aspirin for my pain.

  • This was so sad. Loved your poem!
