Thank You, Laura

An attraction of all the right elements

Under anthropomorphic street lights

Brought the vibrations of trumpets and chants

To a quiet hum

The night you entered the room

Like a silent movie riot

I percolated instantly

Vapours from coffee bloomed

You had me

Meditative

Calm

Penetrating layers

Of my levitating fears

Elevating extacy

A line of seven chakras

Aligned and electric with the energy

Your love took hold

Like a root hungry for rich soil

It’s a shame

About our enriched toils

We were on the wrong timeline, dear

Where love like this

Had reason, but no rhyme

Because of fear

Because of fear

Those four words that left your red lips

That night

Instantly took me from a man

To a boy

Scared, aggressive, alone

“I care about you.”

It was the five words with which I replied

Which scared me more

Because of fear

Of a future where

This silent movie

Actually ended in technicolor joy

With thunderous applause

love poems
