Abandonment

Thank You

You raised me to be strong

By not raising me at all

I stood on my own two feet

cause there was no one to lean on

I learned how to be disappointed

How easily promises are broken

Not to expect things from others

Or trust the words that are spoken

You raised me to be smart

To learn from my experiences

To see all the patterns

And show no one my weaknesses

You taught me to smile

Even if I was hurting

Cause there's no time for tears

When feelings need converting

You taught me to leave

When ever things get tough

That no one would want me

And I'll never be enough

So thank you

For being a ghost

For being an invisible creature

Whose love I wanted most
