Text me

A poem about modern love at first sight.

It’s love none the less.

Today’s technology makes finding love easier yet somehow so much harder than it used to be.

My generation is so used to dating apps, snapchat, Facebook and even Tiktok posing new love ventured and possibilities every single day. Yet with social anxiety on the rise with the younger generation (mine included) it is more and more common for couples to not meet in person for quite some time or in some cases ever.

The days of handwritten notes, knocking on the front door of the girl or boy you loved and asking them to the movies and hand delivered flowers are dying. But that doesn’t mean that love is dead. It’s just evolving. It’s just different.

Don’t leave me on read.

The moment I knew you were part of me

The second I thought you were meant for me

The first message you consumed me

!Battery at 20%!

The moment I was drawn to you

The second I noticed you

The first time I smiled for you

!incoming call!

The moment we became us

The second we thought of love

The first “😘” was just confirmation…

That indeed it was true love?

!battery at 10%!

That it consumed us

That it immersed us

That it completed us

!message failed to send!

This moment in time like a frozen clock

This second between us to seal our fate

This first day of the rest of our lives

Because simply knowing you was not enough

Because in that moment I knew in a second that this was indeed true love at first sight.

Message sent. Delivered. Read.

They are typing…
