Temptation

You tempt me with sweet words,

You lure me with treats of gold,

You kiss me until I forget to think,

You know exactly what I desire,

You know my hopes and dreams,

You know my fears and failures,

But you're just a master puppeteer.

You found the strings of my heart,

You played my love like an artist,

You used me to my fullest ability,

Then you broke my heart

And your strings no longer control me.

So I’ll leave you puppet master,

I’ll leave the key on the table,

I’ll leave the broken glass on the floor,

I’ll leave the light on outside.

I’m leaving for clear blue lakes,

Leaving for crisp fresh air,

Leaving for towering trees,

Leaving for sweet flowers,

Where I can rebuild my heart,

Without your strings.
