tell me I'm pretty

shade me by numbers

or don’t color me at all

leave me as unattended lines

for someone to connect and draw

paint me attractive

and say you will never leave

next tell me I am the reason

you wish to fall like autumn leaves

and when hope is malnourished

and has not been well in quite some time

sneak away from me to feed her

even if I lose my mind

but hurry back and to tell me I'm pretty.

if only once, well baby, that's just fine,

but pretty please I beg you

don’t make me wait all night

for all I am now

is just a page of black and white
