Teach me Confidence.

A prayer poem.

By Marvelous MichaelPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

I was made in God’s image, they said,

But daily I bring pictures of what I want to be instead.

Selfies made me face myself till I purged from the weight,

Forgive me, God, for I have sinned again.

*

Unbelief sags my cheeks,

Overthinking makes me sick.

Depression made me overeat,

Fear made me miss opportunities.

Shame arched my back,

Comparison makes me see myself in rags.

*

Teach me not to compare and covet,

Slouching in shame like You haven’t given me all I need yet.

God, teach me to be confident.

This is stunning. I absolutely loved this. I've been in such a dark place right now as I travel down a healing period and pieces like this are so beautiful and rare to me. Thank you for writing this 💝
